Fashion Week: Fall 2007 Trends

  1. Sequins

This year's fall fashion is filled with dresses, pants, tunics, and jackets covered with sequins. Get ready for a rather sparkly time of year.
  2. Russian Revolution

Designers traveled back to early-twentieth-century Russia for inspiration this fall. Vera Wang (shown right) in particular dressed her models in shearling, military jackets, sturdy boots with medallions and of course babushkas - perfect for a windy day in the city.

  3. "Get Waisted"

Your wide belts from last season now needs to be relinquished to the back of your closet. The waist makers for fall are of the skinny variety, much like the models they were shown on. And really, anything you currently own or plan on buying can be accessorized with them. Dresses, coats, vests or skirts, the skinny belt is a must have of the moment.

  4. Slouchy Trousers (Goodbye Skinny Jeans!)

While the fashion world is not entirely ready to bid the skinny pant a final farewell, there slouchy pant slowly started to edge it out as the must have for fall. And even though they were shown with oversized knits and roomy jackets, there was still an undercurrent of sexines to them.

  5. Solid and Patterned Tights

With the much hyped Factory Girl causing mod madness this season, opaque tights took off with speed. And this trend continued into Fall 2007 with a bevy of black tights and patterned hose (see Tracy Reese, right image) flooding the runways. We all welcome one more winter where fashionistas don't have to freeze to look fashionable.
  6. Gray

The grays this season didn't automatically translate into boring. Rich hues such as charcoal and anthrocite were offered in luxe fabrics and sexy silhouettes- many with intriguing details like beading and crystals.

  7. Knit Tops

Knits with substance stood out as a major trend for fall in the form of oversized cardigan coats, dresses and chunky pullovers (shown right). But don't assume you have to pair these loomed luxuries over jeans or leggings. Many designers showed them mixed with metallics and tweeds.
  8. Zip Ups

It won't be hard to slip into next season's dresses with so many zippers being shown. And they aren't hidden versions either. Designers such as Derek Lam (shown), Behnaz Sarafpour and Carlos Miele showed dresses with exposed zippers being the focal detail of their frocks.
  9. Hats On

There was a major revival in millinery for fall ranging from wide-brimmed styles to fedoras to top hats. But don't confuse this season's toppers with the boho styles scene lately on the likes of Sienna Miller and Kate Moss. Fall 2007 is all about looking like a lady.

Fall Fashion Colour Report

"The traditional neutral shades expected for autumn have been replaced this season with rich, nuanced hues, offering more opportunity for creativity with interesting and unexpected color combinations."
Spicy Chili Pepper and exotic Lemon Curry stimulate the taste buds, entice the senses and enliven any wardrobe.
Purple Wine, the ultimate expression of creativity, marries purple and wine, broadening the appeal of purple for fashion. The violet undertones of Dusk give gray a whole new dimension, making this fall’s neutral much more desirable.
Carafe, a deep, espresso brown, adds contrast to the palette, providing a rich alternative to the usual black or charcoal. Sumptuous Cashmere Rose is not only the perfect complement to any of fall’s colors, but also flatters any complexion.
Many seasons have paid homage to nature, and fall ‘07 is no exception. Shale Green takes the shade in a murky, blue/gray direction, while foliage-inspired Green Moss goes to the yellow side. Earthy Burnt Ochre is this autumn’s orange and sophisticated Stargazer continues the trend of turquoise, but with a deeper intensity.

Paris Launches Fashion Line

"Police and city workers were called in to handle the crowd and a lane of traffic was closed as Paris Hilton unveiled her clothing line at a trendy boutique.

The heiress, author, singer, perfume designer and reality-TV star unveiled the line at Kitson, a boutique known for its celebrity clientele. The traffic lane was closed for pedestrians' safety, a city spokesman said.

Clad in a gold sequin minidress, Hilton, 26, emerged from a black sport utility vehicle to a throng of fans who spilled into the street Thursday. Inside the store, Hilton was all smiles.

"It's a dream come true to have my own clothing line," she said. "It's just Paris style: fun, bright and flashy."

The collection, which Hilton described as "really comfortable" and "really affordable," includes shoes, T-shirts and jeans. Hilton said she spent a year submitting and approving designs.
"It's just from my closet to their closets," she said."
