- Sequins
This year's fall fashion is filled with dresses, pants, tunics, and jackets covered with sequins. Get ready for a rather sparkly time of year. - Russian Revolution
Designers traveled back to early-twentieth-century Russia for inspiration this fall. Vera Wang (shown right) in particular dressed her models in shearling, military jackets, sturdy boots with medallions and of course babushkas - perfect for a windy day in the city. - "Get Waisted"
Your wide belts from last season now needs to be relinquished to the back of your closet. The waist makers for fall are of the skinny variety, much like the models they were shown on. And really, anything you currently own or plan on buying can be accessorized with them. Dresses, coats, vests or skirts, the skinny belt is a must have of the moment. - Slouchy Trousers (Goodbye Skinny Jeans!)
While the fashion world is not entirely ready to bid the skinny pant a final farewell, there slouchy pant slowly started to edge it out as the must have for fall. And even though they were shown with oversized knits and roomy jackets, there was still an undercurrent of sexines to them. - Solid and Patterned Tights
With the much hyped Factory Girl causing mod madness this season, opaque tights took off with speed. And this trend continued into Fall 2007 with a bevy of black tights and patterned hose (see Tracy Reese, right image) flooding the runways. We all welcome one more winter where fashionistas don't have to freeze to look fashionable. - Gray
The grays this season didn't automatically translate into boring. Rich hues such as charcoal and anthrocite were offered in luxe fabrics and sexy silhouettes- many with intriguing details like beading and crystals. - Knit Tops
Knits with substance stood out as a major trend for fall in the form of oversized cardigan coats, dresses and chunky pullovers (shown right). But don't assume you have to pair these loomed luxuries over jeans or leggings. Many designers showed them mixed with metallics and tweeds. - Zip Ups
It won't be hard to slip into next season's dresses with so many zippers being shown. And they aren't hidden versions either. Designers such as Derek Lam (shown), Behnaz Sarafpour and Carlos Miele showed dresses with exposed zippers being the focal detail of their frocks. - Hats On
There was a major revival in millinery for fall ranging from wide-brimmed styles to fedoras to top hats. But don't confuse this season's toppers with the boho styles scene lately on the likes of Sienna Miller and Kate Moss. Fall 2007 is all about looking like a lady.

Clueless First Year

My Predicament - "What to wear - What not to wear" My highschool was like a fashion show everyday - and assemblies and chapels were only a few of the "runways" as girls - and boys flaunted their new sevens, bcbg dress, free people tops, burberry scarves, polo shirts with bow ties - etc. I was and am in fact one of those people that does dress nice for class and all occasions actually.
Coming from such a place - I am scared by the notions of "sweatpants and flipflops" or the "jeans you wore to bed" or the "shirt with some dinner saved on it" And facebook groups such as Are you a model? NO you're just the idiot who dressed for class! Don't help either. I can't be the only person who plans on looking good in college - right?
